Backround/History:
Adam Corium was born in a small village not far from Praven. His father, Reynold was a surgeon working with the local militia that defended the county against bandits while the army was away from the keep. Adam's mother, Rose stayed in the village raising him while also working as a weaver, weaving cloth for the local merchant who came to the village at the end of every week. By the time of Adam's tenth birthday, his mother attempted to teach him some of how to weave cloth but Adam hardly cared for it and he was never really taught much. Eventually Rose had fallen ill and died by the time Adam was twelve. Due to Rose's death Reynold was forced to return to the village to care for Adam. While in his care, Reynold began teaching Adam all he knows as a surgeon and a doctor. He taught him all from stitching a basic wound to treating a simple broken arm. This extensive training and lessons took around four years to go over just the basics. For Adam's sixteenth birthday Reynold gave Adam his journal that he kept while he was a surgeon for the militia. The journal contained logs of what exactly Reynold had to do with every medical situation that was given to him. It also contained rough drawings of several different herbs and plants that could be used to heal different illnesses and wounds. Having given a book, Reynold thought it was only natural Adam should be taught how to read and write. So, Reynold began teaching Adam to read and write which eventually took about a year and a half to complete. Having all of these skills and Reynold's book, Reynold thought Adam could take his job as a surgeon for the militia.
Adam traveled to Praven the following day, taking his father's job while his father stayed in the village caring for the house. Adam followed the militia group for several months, gaining much needed hands on experience with medical practices. However, he was forced to return home when he heard news of the bandits looting and burning the village after they couldn't find the linen merchant. Reynold was assumed dead along with the rest of the villagers, there was nothing Adam could've done to prevent it. Having nothing to do but return to work, Adam did so and asked the captain of the militia every week to hunt the bandits. After several weeks of Adam asking to hunt down the bandits, the captain finally agreed that they should be taken care of. The captain, days later would eventually create a plan to lure the bandits back to the village they burnt down. They planned to have a fake merchant with nothing on him or in his cart travel to the village in hope to lure out the bandits. The small militia forced would be following shortly behind. The militia forced with cloth, rusty weapons and crappy shields. They had about fifteen good men, Adam and the captain. The bandits numbers and arms was unknown by militia. When the time came the fake merchant sallied out followed by the militia not long after. The merchant arrived at the village and was stopped by the bandits who were already waiting in the village. The bandits ended up killing the fake merchant after they opened his cart and it was too late for the militia to save him. The militia charged the bandits to where they found they were severely outmatched by the bandits. Most of the militia was slaughtered as they charged the bandits, only a few of the bandits were slain. Adam was taken down by a bandit who smashed his axe through his shield slashing his chest. Being wounded and having a bloodthirsty bandit right on top of him, Adam thought he was at his end. Adam blacked out on the battlefield.
Adam woke up in some inn in Praven stitched up and healed by a doctor. Standing next to his bed was a Knight by the name of Sir Harry Elwood. The knight explained that his company was returning to Praven when they noticed the battle and joined in. His small company had taken out the group of bandits fairly easy not losing a single man. Upon knowing Adam was a doctor, Sir Harry Elwood asked if Adam would join his small company and travel with him to heal his men. After the militia being dead and his home destroyed, Adam had no choice but to accept the knight's offer. Most of Sir Harry Elwood's company was on horseback so the knight thought it would be best if Adam was on a horse. Not knowing how to ride a horse, Adam had to be taught by one of the men which took several months. Eventually by the time Sir Harry Elwood had to leave Praven, Adam had learned how to ride a horse well enough to stay on it while riding. The small company led by the knight sallied out of Praven heading to Uxhal the following day. Upon arriving at Uxhal, Adam met the knight Sir Garth Dobinson and his brother Wayne Dobinson. Both were good friends of Sir Harry Elwood's and would join the company before they left Uxhal. They did not stay at Uxhal long as they felt they had better places to be. Having no real destination in mind they traveled the lands finding someplace to settle down.
