Should we be able to loot? Yesterday in global we saw an entire argument about the looting rule, with the majority ruling in "Yes" with about a 4:1 ratio. I personally feel we should loot, but we must do it RPly. Say you KO someone and they are knocked out in RP. We could strip them or something. I mean really, if you were in the 1200s and you saw some guy in expensive armor/clothing, wouldn't you loot it? I mean, come on, this is a big part to the RP and lore. I say we should, what do you think?

I vote no and the only reason is because have you tried stripping someone from plate armour or mail? It's all strapped to the person and would be very hard to get off, even then there is no guarantee it would fit. That's just my opinion and other people have their own.

It's all strapped to the person and would be very hard to get off, even then there is no guarantee it would fit. That's just my opinion and other people have their own. We have been over this a thousand times, and this is why. I make chainmail, I can tell you it is a bitch and a half to get on and off, and everyone needs a size that fits them. It's not like cloth that can bend at whim, it can go so far and the stops, or you start bending rings if you force it. Plate requires people to get on and off. Squires where not around just for giggles, one of their major jobs was helping the guy get into his bloody armor, which could easily take a few minutes with assistance, and was nearly impossible without. Why? Because the more you put on, the harder it was to move around to put on the rest. Your lower arm guards alone had at least three leather buckles each, and under that you have a layer of chain, and under that a layer of padded cloth. Boots also had about 3 buckles a piece. And then you need a belt to hold your mail in place so the weight is not all on your shoulders, and THEN you need more buckles to put on plates and cloth over that. If you think you can fix 20+ belts and buckles in place, by yourself, most of which are to be done one-handed if by yourself, wearing a layer of padded cloth or leather, be my guest. If you think you can take chainmail off of a limp man, get the padded cloth beneath it, take off whatever you happen to be wearing, get all his clothing on, and have it fit by magic, be my guest. If we did allow looting armor, it would likely be limited to light boots, helmets, and gloves, as these actually were looted, with the exception of the heavier gear because it was all buckled and tied to the rest of the armor. Plus if you are looting armor, odds are that armor system has FAILED, that is why that man is KO'd or dead. So that helmet likely has a massive dent, the armor has a hole in it the size of a lance, the boots and gloves are cut to pieces, or if in light armor there is a massive cut in it. So not only are you spending 10+ minutes stripping this man of gear, that gear is going to be beat to hell and it is going to be obvious to everyone that the man covered in dirty, bloody, ruined armor didn't pick that up at the town square from the local smith. After all of that, i would make you roll dice to see if it fit.
