Hello, brand new admins or grizzled veterans. This page here should serve as a reminder to some, or hold brand new information for others. I feel all admins should have "The Talk" that this tread will provide. Here, I will go over all the brand new shiny admin tools you have now that make you one of the cool kids.
When I was a Head Admin on Nexus PW we had this in the locked admin section of the forums. All new members were to read and learn it. Arys wrote it, but sadly it wasn't saved. I'll recreate it for NA Sense.
Admin Armour. - This is fine. Go ahead and dawn your armor when you're in admin mode to protect you from the swarms of serfs that will beat you with their farm tools OOC'ly while you solve complaints. This doesn't break immersion at all, as people will simply ignore you IC'ly. They will only notice you OOC'ly.
Admin Horses. - No. They are extremely loud, they can be heard across the whole map. When one rolls by, most everyone stops to look at what a jackass you are. It breaks immersion heavily. Not to mention how dangerous they are! At full charge, hitting some poor Knight will knock them down, and if doesn't instantly kill them, will damage them near death. Leading to a possible admin complaint if they feel like you. You don't need that! There are also unconfirmed reports that it can lag the server out. Just don't use them. If you need to get somewhere fast. Just spawn a Courser. They can move plenty fast enough. Just kill the horse afterward.
Teleport Forward. - Nope. This shouldn't be used. It isn't any faster then a Courser. Once or twice to get into a building mesh to get a someones lost items from the wall, sure. But don't spam it as a way to get around. This is known to lag the server when spammed, and in some cases can even crash it completely.
Teleport to Player/Teleport behind Player. - Yes! This is a very helpful tool to be used by admins. Once fluent with the color coding system, it is the fastest way to get to players in need of help. Teleporting behind a player while invisible is also a great way to catch potential rule breaks while they happen.
Turn Invisible. - Yes. Does not effect the server in any way. It only makes you unlikely to be seen.
Admin Announcing. - No. It's a rare situation when an Admin Announce is actually warranted. Giant purple text in your face that has nothing to do with 98% percent of the rest of the server is borderline abusive. Use Private admin chat to talk to players as individuals, rather then slapping your Admin-Peen in everyone's face.
Fading players. - No. Just TP to someone and slay them with an admin sword if the situation really calls for a slay. It's more deliberate and you're less likely to slay the wrong Peasant. It's not a lot of work.
Freezing players. - Nope. If you want a certain, unwilling Peasant to listen to you. You may think freezing him and getting into his face is a great idea. Accept sometimes when you unfreeze a certain player, it doesn't remove the invisible wall mesh that keeps them there. Meaning not only is the poor Peasant stuck, there is a player sized invisible wall for anyone else trying to ride by. Once again just talk to them in Private admin chat if they don't seem to stay in one spot for you.
Heal Yourself. - Sure. As long as you aren't using it for IC gain. Go for it.
Turn Godlike. - Absolutely. It's needed to preform most all Admin duties. Such as heals. However, do remember going into Godlike mode not only heals you completely, but gives you maximum stats. Never use this for personal gain IC'ly.
Spawning Items. - Yes. However it can be annoying for players to watch admins take ten minutes to find their required gear. Become fluent in where things are. Here is a list with the corresponding numbers of all the items you may need. forums.taleworlds.com/index.php?topic=204335.0
~Admin Actions.~
Restocking Items. - On this server, no. On most other servers it's totally fine to restock items. However here, Realm is trying to push for a player driven serf economy. So refrain from restocking items.
Cart Retrieving. - Yes. Though I haven't seen an admin have to do it yet, if a cart is stuck over a river, or where it can't be reached. You can retrieve it! It's simple. Go Godlike, spawn a Warbow with arrows. Shoot the cart! It will slowly fly back toward you until it's within the playable zone again. However, do not use this useful tool to fly around with carts. It's dangerous and frankly a waste of time on your part. Trust me.
Lockpicking doors for players. - If done right, yes. When a player is stuck in a castle, or room. Spawn to them and go Godlike. Spawn an admin lockpick. Sure. But don't HIT the door with the lockpick. That unlocks the door for everyone for a certain amount of time. Simply hold F on the door, that will unlock it just for you, and that faction. Saving that faction the headache of someone being able to break in with ease.
Helping stuck players. - Yes. Spawn a saddle horse where the player is stuck, and attempt to move it around so they can mount it, and get out of their glitch. If this can not be done. Ask them if they would like to be slayed. If so, collect everything they owned, spawn back to them and reward them their gear back. Simple!
If you've been given access to the "Server Panel" then that is a new guide all together.
I hoped this helped some new admins out there, or served as a brisk refresher for you hardened veterans.
