Recruitment and training
Writings of Magister Bahram
Alu Hammad, Karef Kalesi, Young man, Acceptable height and Weight, Appropriate Education, Calvary
Trainee Hammad's noteworthy horsemanship and martial ability bodes well for a Military career. He is well-learned, likely of noble birth, possibly squired or mentored. If time permitted, I would see to it that he be seconded for advanced training, possibly for leadership and strategy. However time does not permit. The skirmishes along the Rhodok border intensify by the day. Our Marshall seems hellbent on securing the entirety of the Gulf for our people. The trainees clamor at the thoughts of leading our empire's expansion, however my excitement fails to compare. The Marshall demands that this lance be ready for deployment within the month. I pray that my men will be ready.
The Jamiche Skirmishes
Notes of Emir Shapur II, In regards to the first reclamation attempt of the Jamiche territories. Commentary on Bahram's troop.
Today's victory was splendid. The Rhodok defensive party was crippled, despite heavy losses of our own. My subordinates however spout word's of treachery. "Slaughtered. Abandoned. Pyrrhic." They think too much of the brave sacrifices of our forward Calvary. Had it not been for the zealotry of these young men, clamoring for the glory of their first battle, our pincer could not have succeeded. While I do recognize that the survivors of the forward charge is disappointing, I can assure out Sultan that those men's silence on the matter is proof enough of their dedication to our people. While Bahram's death was tragic, it acted as a splendid filter to find the battle's champions. I'll be sure that a new, more competent Magister awards these men with advancement. With this new war, we need will need new heroes. The Mamluks must be bolstered if we are to continue our offensive.
Notes of Marshall Emir Shapur II, in response to Alu Hammad performance into Campaign.

These past few months have been both dreadfully long and costly. While considered by the Sultan to be a matter of continued skirmishes, this conflict has taken its toll on the Gulf. Casualties have total'd to over seven-hundred, roughly one half of our forces here in the Gulf. Despite our early push into the hills of Rhodok territory, even I must admit that I hold doubts in regards to the title of these lands. Of our casualties, we have lost four companies of infantry, 2 companies of skirmishers, and thirty-three of my personal Calvary. Seven of which died in an assassination attempt, one from disease, and the rest from combat. The Mamluks horsemen given to me by the late-Marshall were legendary, unbeatable in combat, yet as I write men half their age have replaced their rank and file. While seeing fresh faces in such iconic armor cringes my insides, their is one new comer that has proved his merit. A Mamluk by the name of Hammad, one of Bahram's trainees tithed to my forces prior to this bloodied massacre, has served with exceptional vigor and faith. It was but two nights ago during my attempted assassination that he slashed his way into my tent and joined in the defensive. A week before that, he consumed six of our finest lances in battle. I was told my supply masters that with each cycle of his assigned cataphract he returned with a broken shaft and a blood-caked scimitar fresh from the shock Calvary's escape. I know full well that this is to be expected of the Mamluks, but to see it in person is always inspiring. This prowess in combat is not without consequence, for his social grace is lack luster. I will not question his intelligence nor his etiquette, but I find his silence unnerving. Most warriors sing of their praises, but the most I receive from Hammad is simple answers and '"yes sir"s...
