Background/History:
This is the story of the McCollier family, in the mountains of the Rhodok Highlands. There started the family of one of the most famous and infamous lancers in all the Swadian Army. The first records of the McCollier family were in the Swadian Armies during the Rhodok Rebellion, defending the keep in Veluca from the Rhodok Rebels. His name was Gregory McCollier, who lead a suicide charger into the spearmen line. He died on that battlefield, but his children and grand-children would forever be known as the McCollier Riders, in the long years of conflicts that followed. From Otis McCollier in the Nordic front to Hasiv McCollier on the Rhodok-Swadian Line and his Uphill Charge to Maras, his family grew a name for being some of the best cavalry fighters in Calradia. However, with that title came another: Enemies of the Swadians recognized the McCollier's as brutal murderers, showing no mercy to anyone. Whether they be soldiers or peasants, the McColliers were known killing all who get in there way. Of course, no one knew the real answer to that myth, but the McColliers were recognized nonetheless as skilled warriors.
However, we are here to learn the story of Benjamin McCollier, who was born in Istiniar. From the day he could walk, his parents, Julie Karingsworth and Julian McCollier, taught him the ways of living in the highlands. At the age of five, his parents had another child, by the name of Juliette McCollier. Benjamin and his sister in the following years would have a bumpy relationship; making a competition of impressing their parents and such. By the age of ten, Julian began to teach his son the ways of raising a horse; the same horse he rides today. Benjamin watched as his steed was born, and his father taught him how to care for and feed the young colt. They were raised together, every son of a McCollier went through it. His sister was taught the way of a bow by her mother, passing down a War Bow from mother to daughter. The two practiced hard at their new tasks, and by their teens, they began to learn the craft of fighting with their new tools, not just hunting and caring for them. However, with these new lessons became a responsibility: War is hard, violent, and not fun. The chances of you getting out are slim, and even if you do you will see things you wish you hadn't ever saw. Benjamin was taught the way of a Lancer, Juliette taught the way of an Archer. Together they learned the techniques of their tradition. By the time Benjamin was nineteen, he was ready to follow in his family's footsteps to war. His sister, five years younger, wished to go too, but her duties were at home. Benjamin, at the age of twenty, join the Swadian Armies in the North.
Benjamin's military career didn't last as long as most would've thought, due to the injuries he sustained from Norse Raiders and bandits. He had, however, quickly advanced in ranks as a leading man, learning the ways of defense and strategy. However, during a conflict north of Uxkhal, a spearman got a lucky stab onto his right leg. It left a massive gash, and he rode back bleeding. The doctors were able to stop the bleeding and patch him up, but it forever left him with a limb. The wound didn't stop him though; He continued his fighting in the North, and during the Siege of Suno, he scored twelve kills against Norse cavalry. That's how he met the Lord Vitanian Corosi, of the House Corosi. Serving in the same charge, the two met after the battle, when the young Corosi congratulated him on the victory. He wouldn't see him again for a long time. However, the Siege of Suno was his last victory, and he left his ferocious, yet brief career behind. He went back home, to see his family and his sister. However, he found out his sister had ran off to go travel through the southern coast of the Rhodok nation. He stayed with them for awhile, helping out at the stables and hunting. His father, at age sixty-five, died of his age. They buried him alongside the stable, in honor of his love for the horses he breeded. His sister returned about a year later, only to find her father dead and her mother dying. In a matter of a few months, their mother passed away, with one dying wish: To never go back to war. The siblings decided that they would travel together, to a place on the frontier: New Zendar.
The road to New Zendar was long and winding, as the two headed for the prosperous Valley of Swamps. They split off of each other, on the conflict of where to work. Benjamin, after meeting the Lord Corosi again, was offered to command the Lord's King's Guard . Juliette became a hunter in Glunmar, mad at her brother for not following his mother's wish. They didn't speak for a month, and his sister disappeared from the town. Benjamin, searching for her, found that she died at the hands of Vaegir raiders. He took a break from fighting at that point, tailoring in Zendar and studying the herbs and plants in the hills and mountains above. However, after this long hiatus, he eventually returned to serve the Lord Corosi. That is where we find Benjamin today: Guarding the Lord. He doesn't have much else in his life, other than his friends and brothers-in-arms under Vitanian. He made it one of his two duties: The other is to find who had murdered his sister and take revenge upon them. And that is where we leave Benjamin to this day.
