Background/History: Quentyn Hugh, the son of Mark Hugh a knight formerly in the service of King Harlaus. He was born in Burglen, a small village near Praven, and his mother died in childbirth. Quentyn was three when his father was slain in battle against the Rhodoks. Quentyn’s father left little for the newly orphaned child so his uncle, a merchantman named Harold, took him and through his connections was able to put him into the guardianship of a Sarranid doctor named Fahim, who was the court physician of Durquba. Quentyn grew up learning the art of medicine, as well as the life of a courtier. In his teenage years he spent most of his time reading, practicing medicine, or playing the lute, thus he never properly learned to fight. When Quentyn was sixteen he packed his things and set off to explore the world, as he’d always been consumed with wanderlust since childhood. As he traveled he saw the hardships of the common folk and decided he’d devote his life to helping others. He’d go from town to town, court to court, healing and entertaining, making just enough gold to travel to the next place. He’s settled down temporarily at times, working in the courts of prestigious houses such as the Tinadels, Highstones, and Halehearts, but never too long before he set off on his way again.
