Backround/History:
For one to truly understand the story of Domovoi, they must first look at the family which he was born into. He father was the last living member of the noble House Boleshkov, who in turn were the last to follow the way of the Bezlikiye Rytsari, the Faceless Knights. These dreaded inquisitors served the Church of the Maker in the east, wearing masks of steel to show their loyalty, and forsaking themselves to be as one, against the dark and leading the Faith forward. Over many generations, they lost their way, and slowly became a political force, abandoning the ways of their predecessors in all ways, keeping only two things; the name, and the mask. Their name still retains great power, but it is all but lost outside of Vaegiria, and it's members whittled down to only one family. House Boleshkov remained Bezlikiye Rytsari. Domovoi's father, Disek Boleshkov, passed this tradition down to his sons. Domovoi and Artyom both learned the ancient laws and became strong fighters... but a few years after Domovoi had became one of the Bezlikiye Rytsari, his father was assassinated. It was suspected to be a move by local nobles, to finally end the legacy of the order.
After the death of their father, Artyom and Domovoi separated. Domovoi became a soldier in the armies of the Tsar. His first campaign was during the failed Nord campaign to take Ismirala Castle. Under the Boyar of his home city, Curaw, he marched westward. Approximately seven hundred Nords clashed with five hundred Vaegirs near Rebachs. Domovoi was among the Vaegir cavalry. As the Nords advanced in shield wall, a continuous raining of arrows fell. The moment the rain stopped, the cavalry smashed through the shieldwall in a V formation, punching through the thinnest point. They reformed behind the Nords, who turned to face their charge. With then backs turned, the arrows fell again, and the rest of the battle was pursuit of routing Nords. Of the seven hundred, only fifty made it back to their Kingdom, with Vaegiria being victorious that day. The Army of Curaw continued west, and rallied with the Tsar's army, two thousand strong. In the final battle under the walls of Ismirala Castle, Domovoi was hit by a greatsword, slicing through his leather and leaving the large scar across his chest. He was left for dead on that field.
Domovoi eventually made it to a nearby village. He nearly perished, but he was able to find an old veteran, who sympathized with his predicament and tended to his wounds. He learned that he was not the first to be left on the field, and that several other survivors were in the village as well. As they all recovered, Domovoi met with these survivors. Two Nords and four Vaegirs were there, and none of them were happy about how their commanders had left them. They all discussed, and came to an agreement. They would operate as a brotherhood of mercenaries, using their scavenged equipment and their experience in combat to earn their meals. So it was decided that they would stand in a tavern, waiting for a passing adventurer to hire them, and as it happened, one did. As part of his company, they fought battle after battle against bandits and deserters, and their loot was sold at towns as they passed. The adventurer seemed to strive for reputation, but was at times... strange. He whispered in his sleep.... "Just two hundred renown... I'll be a Lord... Just a hundred more...". Eventually, the Adventurer did become a Lord... of flies. He was struck by seven arrows in the chest, and a sword cut to the head. He had seemed confident going in, saying that at worst he'd be knocked out... but he was wrong, and his confidence led to his demise. The company split up, and Domovoi ended up in a large valley with a central city, where he would start on his course to become a legend...
Domovoi left that tavern, not knowing what drove him. He had a... need, something was needed. He found himself passing through farms, going farm from the tavern where he had been living. He was over a river... the stone bridge was familiar to him, buy why was he here? He looked up at the timber castle ahead, and saw... one man. A powerful man, a Vaegir turned Nord. One of the strongest men in the land. Cornelius Tinadel. He knew what he came here for; he was going to reforge his House, himself. Destiny called him. A mercenary no more... He was a man of honor, a man born to rebuild the Bezlikiye Rytsari. He approached Cornelius, and that day they made a pact. The Vaegirs would need a home in this land, a place to look to. Cornelius agreed, but was unaware of Domovoi's true motive. He would form his first base, and conquer all for mother Vaegiria. The course was set, and there was no turning back. A small family of warriors, the Ravenholts, held a castle in the mountains, a castle built by Vaegirs, and soon it would be returned to them. Domovoi slipped into their ranks, and waited for his chance. These warriors were not foolish, but nobody is perfect. Seeing his chance, Domovoi seized the castle, and flew a banner not seen for decades... The Bear of Boleshkovs. Warriors flocked to that banner, in a short time. Great warriors, the best of Vaegiria. Artyom, Domovoi's brother, also arrived, and together, they would rebuild their House.
After several skirmishes, the Boleshkov brothers and their warriors finally launched a full invasion upon one of their neighbors. This was their first test, the first war, a chance to show everyone that the Boleshkovs were a force that should not be reckoned with lightly. Despite their best efforts, the defenders were unable to beat back the Boleshkovs. They were forcefully vassalized, becoming servants of the Boleshkovs, tasked to bring harvests to the castle. This was not to be, however, as the subjects continuously rebelled. They attacked Vaegir warriors all along the road, and though they never managed to win a victory, gathered together a mighty host to fight for freedom. The Boleshkov cavalry outmaneuvered the rebels, but their numbers were great, and eventually a white peace was signed. The great Boleshkovs would use this foothold to attack a land known as the Great Divide. They were awarded a castle there, and a new struggle began as they fought to control this new land. Large powers were already at work their. The Tinadels and Ebersbachs fought a new enemy, known as the Lydias. These new foes were skillful archers, and seemed to have the will of God on their side at times. The Boleshkovs were able to repel an attack by them, even though they were greatly outnumbered. During the counter-attack, Domovoi personally led his forces into the Lydia castle, breaking into a side gate and attacking by ship. After a long period of fighting inside the walls, the castle was seized, but the will of God seemed to be against the Vaegirs that day, as they somehow lost their conquest. Sources say God was displeased that they had started their invasion from an allied castle instead of their own, but such ideas are simply insane. The Lydias counter-attacked again, and somehow caused aggression from the Tinadels against the Boleshkovs. In this war, during the Battle of Montibeil River, a man named Bubba Tinadel is said to have led his men into a storm of arrows from the Boleshkov archers, along with the Lydias, and then invaded calling it agression. In the end of that war, the Boleshkovs captured a grand city, New Praven, from the Tinadels, and fought the Lydias to extinction. Now, they set their sights on new lands... They will come in force, and conquer all for Vaegiria. They are the mightiest of men... The Boleshkovs. The Bezlikiye Rytsari.
